We have some AFM measurements of a protein ( a glycoprotein, about 100 kDa) that unexpectedly, in some conditions, have a volume lower than expected or looking in the images like "more open". We wonder if this is related with some conformational changes, for example like those happening in the molten globule state. So, I am looking for references concerning changes in the protein volume during the molten globule state, or if there is any references concerning AFM measuments of proteins having this intermediate state.
