I don't like to be destructive or so but I would recommend staying away from the AMOS software and the book by Barbara Byrne. As Gaskin (sorry, no offence!) focuses on both and while giving respect for this effort, I think his videos are misleading in many ways.

Learn graph theory, path tracing, d-separation and backdoor adjustment and you will have an advantage against all of your colleagues.

Hi Wanny,

I found the book "Using Mplus for Structural Equation Modeling: A Researcher's Guide" by Kelloway to be a very good help for getting started in SEM with MPlus. There were also explained practical examples without digressing too far into mathematics.
