Process based erosion models are increasingly used on catchment scale. Especially in Cerrado-region or Amazonas Basin. I almost only found application of empirical approaches.
Hi Marcos. I have worked many year in the Amazon and we have some field data about runnoff and seddiments related with cinetic energy of the rain events. Is that are you looking for ? The data are in a Master Thesis (Omar Cubas Encimas) ... I know some other literature about erosion rates in the Amazon but they are all published in Portuguese.
Let me know if I can help you in some way. Im quite intereted in erosion studies in the Brazilian Amazon
we are working in the joint project "CarBioCial". One project aim is the describtion of carbon cyles under changing land use and climat conditions in Mato Grosso and southern Pará. I will use the EROISON 3D model for soil loss, deposition and related carbon transfer simulation. Since we are very limited in field experiements, I´m interested in more field data. Can you provide me some more literature. It can be in Portuguese.
I found a copy of the dissertation of Omar Cubas Encimas ( Avaliação de processos erosivos na base de operações geologo Pedro de Moura - Coari - AM. 2010. Dissertação (Mestrado em Agricultura no Trópico Úmido) - Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico. Orientador: Wenceslau Geraldes Teixeira. )
I advised him during the masters thesis. It concerning about soil erosion rates in the Amazon. Hopefully it can help you. I can forward pdf copy to you. Send me a email. Cheers from Brazil
Hi Marcus. In Algeria Mr Lefkir Abdelouahab has found that the best method to model erosion is ANFIS (Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system) using Matlab.
