Actually I want to select 216 2D intermediate surfaces in our 2D model. Doing it manually (color selection is required for assigning convective layer e.g.-magenta or yellow) will be a tedious task instead of writing a python script for the same. I tried recording macro which shows function that select and creates surface using mask id. Since recognizing a id is difficult rather than providing a coordinate,
The mask ID you get from abaqus are uusually useless.
If you record macros, use journal options:
