I have got one diatom for identification for my colleague. but I could find it. please any one identify it. freshwater form..please help me in this regard..
very similar to Striatella sp., but if it's freshwater form - more probably Tabellaria sp.

It is Terpsinoe musica, a freshwater diatom. In your photograph, the ribs are like musical notes. This species is typical of clean water with high content of carbonates or other minerals.

Besides of Tabellaria It also may be Diatoma sp. For me these frustules seem to be too rough for Tabellaria. Anyway, without frustule structure or at least view from the frustule side, this diatom is difficult to be identified correctly, we may only suppose. And I also agree with Francisco, it may be Terpsinoe.

Even though it's freshwater I would check out Terpsinoe musica and T. americana. Looks like too many pseudosepta to be the latter.

Process the material according to cleaning procedures for diatom preparation. It is very difficult to recognize different diatom species by looking to a live material.
