The mushroom grows on wood and has probably pores in the hymenophore. Have a look at, eg., Polyporus badius of google. Or try MUSHROOM IDENTIFICATION FORUM of Facebook. I am familiar just with European fungi.
hi Jan, I couldnt find anything similar between Polyporus badius and this fungus on google except they are growing on wood . But thank you for the recommendation!
For me it looks like Pleurotus tuber-regium which is frequently found in tropical areas. This species is also comercially cultivated in Indonesia. Anyway exact determination is still only possible with all data and/or microscope.
But Pleurotus should have lamellae/gills. In this picture, the hymenium seems to be smooth (or with tiny pores) - but the resolution of the figure is poor so I cannot see anything...
Specially in P. tuber-regium gills ared very dense and short and devenlop better when fruiting bodies devenlop. So when young (as in the picture) they are often difficult to see.
I am from Indonesia and so far I didn't find this kind of comercial mushroom. If so, I would have recognized it before. besides, Pleurotus shoud have half-round shape and/or bracket-like shape.
I agree with Jan, Pleurotus is supposed to have wide and big gills. as in this picture, there are 2 samples, 1 is young and the other is the adult. however, this picture represents both ages.
P. tuber-regium is somewhat special within the genus. First it produces sclerotia, and second, as some other species like P. eryngii it does not typically grow in the pleurotoid (half round, or bracket) shape.
And Agus you are sure right, I made a mistake. P. tuber-regium was only reported/collected in Indonesia. I do not have any information whether it is cultivated in Indonesia.
