The green precipitate is probably elemental sulfur that has formed as the polysulfides decomposed. Your first action should probably be to make certain that the solution is not exposed to any air since oxygen will react with the H2Sx to form sulfur and water. You might also want to verify that your pH stays high, which helps maintain the stability of H2Sx. Finally, check to make certain that you are not overloading the solution with sulfur. Polysulfides are not highly stable, so trying to create a solution that is too concentrated will result in some decomposition to either dissolved H2S or a lower number of sulfurs in the H2Sx.
in the attached paper, the author talking about refluxing the electrolyte for 45 min. Does the refluxing has an effect on the stability of the electrolyte?
