Hi, you can homogenize your tissue directly in Tizol(R) reagent or equivalent, using a Potter manual tissue grinder (you can use a glass one or you can buy a set of plastic tubes and pestle). Alternatively, you can use an automatic homogenizer (be sure you clean very well the pestle between samples, usign clean trizol and then alcohol). I have used both myself and work fine. You have to work quickly and on ice. Good luck!
a tissue lyser would be the fastest and easiest way. Just few seconds but it's more expensive than nomral pestels.
An automated tissue homogenizer would be fast and effective. I'd recommend the BeadBug. It's very fast and quite inexpensive compared to most other automated homogenizers: http://homogenizers.net/products/beadbug
