Hi all, I am looking for a data set where each image contains one big object in the center which may be surrounded by complex background. Preferably, the objects must be distinguished by both shape and colour. I would like to test a novel recognition method. No localization is needed. Any suggestions?

I agree with Santosh and Michael that the Simplicity and the Caltech datasets are excellent sources of images that are filled with various shapes and colours. A favorite of mine are the elephants and horses in the Simplicity data set because many of the images in the elephant- and horse-images are similar but different in subtle ways. The other data sets mentioned by others in this thread are also very good.
