We are definitely better at localizing sources when we are familiar with the room in which we hear the sound, we underestimate the distance of whispering voice and overestimate the distance of screaming. Broadband signals can be localized better, so consonants should be localized better than vowels... But: many important signal processing steps for source localization already happen in the early stages of the auditory pathway before reaching cortical structures, i.e. already before we identify signals as speech, musical instrument, or motor, etc
