Please help me in getting rid of sericin gelation? Everytime I am extracting sericin, it is getting gelated in one way or the other. I don't know why it is happening but it is happening. It would be highly appreciating if one helps me out.

The sericin is isolated by 8M urea containing 1% sodium dodecyl sulfate and beta-mercaptoethenol (2%) or by 1% sodium chloride.

Yes, Sir you are very right. I have tried the following protocol of Urea, SDS and Beta mercaptoethanol and performed PAGE analysis also. But at that time I was not knowing how to get rid of Urea, SDS, Beta-mercaptoethanol. Now I will try that also. I want to know if there is another method instead using 3 vol ethanol as it is a costly process.
Secondly I want to say that using other methods I was getting sericin upon lyophilization but there was solubility issue on getting sericin in dry form. In the sericin solution form, gelling was a problem.
