I was doing a google search for the principle behind the amido black staining of total protein. However, I found information only about its usage in forensic sciences. I wanted to know how amido black specifically stains proteins.
Amido black (as in 'amidoschwarz’ method of staining, developed by Schaffner and Weissmann in 1973) is an anionic dye. Its principle of action is described here:
