I am trying to find a trusted tool for evaluating the performance of cryptographic algorithms which is linux compatible. I tried CIAT but found some compatibility issues. The coding of a tool for NiST specification is too hard and time consuming so can anyone suggest any tools. Thanks in advance.

All NIST tests are included and many more. Precompiled for Linux distributions.
One of the best (perhaps THE best) tools for testing the quality of pseudo random number generators is TestU01, which compiles fine in Linux - see http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~simardr/testu01/tu01.html. I have installed it on a Linux Mint 14 a while ago, and I still have the installations steps:

The NIST Statistical Test Suite (STS) is one of the gold standards for PRNG testing, though you do have to compile the binary. You don't, however, have to build your generator into their program. You can feed STS a set of files and have STS analyze them and give the same report as with it's built-in generators. I don't remember having any problems getting STS to build.

I believe I also have a python script to parse the STS output and summarize it or make a csv or something, but it was fairly specific to the experiments I was running.
