Lower Callovian clarifies it - its a Macrocephalites (although in Europe they do range from the late Bathonian to the earliest Mid Callovian - but are only generally common in the L Callovian). Compressed fine ribbed is unfortunately a very general morphology which persists throughout most of this range - do you have a view of the other side which might be better preserved?? and also do you have any associated fauna which could help tie down the actual zone/subzone - you could always email pictures directly to me on [email protected] if that's useful?!
