I am planning to work on diabetic group of wistar albino male rats. I am using one extract to find out its effect on insulin level along with specific beta cell in pancreas. Is there any particular procedure or specific stain possible other than TEM?
Actually sir i want to know about how to find out beta cell dysfuction by both biochemical change and structural change ?
Hi Arbind, you can measure insulin level using rat insulin Elisa kit (mercodia kit- which I have used ) to measure serum or blood insulin levels before and after your treatment. Also you can do immunocytochemistry staining on histology section using insulin antibody to see the population of insulin positive cells. First of all by doing blood glucose checking you can get an idea about your beta cell dysfunction, if it is high that will indicate that there is a decrease in insulin production. Following that you can do other test as I mentioned. Hope this helps.
