I'm working on Synchronous reluctance motor design and control
I have simulated the SynRM using fem and the calculated power factor should be around 0.7 at the maximum power angle.
However, on the experimental works, the power factor is 0.35 at the maximum power angle although if you calculate it based on the measured standstill dq- axis inductances it's around 0.7.
How can give me answer for this problem???????
This is a quite large question, many reason.
The ratio between result is exacty of 2 ?
Is the manufactured airgap bigger than the real one.
Is the saturation in steel lamination taken into account ?

Off course, the saturation is considered on the simulation. The steel grade is M400-50A.
But the stange is if you calculate the power factor based on the relation mentioned on the attached photo from the measured dq-axis inductances, you will find that the power factor is higher than 0.35 (0.65 or 0.7).
why?
Formulas, that are used in these papers, could be use to check range of obtained values. They seems to be sometimes different than the one you use.
I think that these formulas has been established with some hypothesis on electrical and magnetical properties on motor. In the "Chabu at al" paper, the supply (voltage or current) gives power factor modification for the same motor. Power losses, Eddy current are not taken into account when using saliency ratio.
An static inductance may differ of the dynamic one according to your material. What about hystereris cycle of the M400-50A.
Is the theoritical torque close to the measured one ? It could be a way to check if the manufacturing of motor is on concerns by the difference.
I must confess that I was working on switched reluctance motor, drive with PWM, where notion of power factor isn't use.

Off course the measured torque is about 80 % of the simulated.
