Hi everybody,
I need to perform immunofluorescnece on primary neuron cultures directed against dendritic and axonal markers. I would choose MAP2 as a dendritic marker and NF-H for axons, as I would like as little signal superposition as possible. Can you suggest any antibody or commercial source that you tested and performed well in your hands?
If you have any other suggestions for markers, please feel free to contribute.

I use anti-MAP2 antibody from chicken. (http://encorbio.com/cpolyclonal/CPCA-MAP2.htm) This antibody is perfect for IHC & ICC. Many people also use anti-MAP2 antibody from abcam (http://www.abcam.com/map2-antibody-hm-2-ab11267.html#description_images_1). For axon marker, I use tau. Abcam Anti-Tau antibody (ab64193) is good choice (http://www.abcam.com/tau-antibody-ab64193.html).

Hi Francesco. I have also used MAP2 for dendrites, and PSD-95 from Synaptic Systems. For axons, I've used GAP-43 (clone 9-1E12) and Thy-1 (clone OX-7) from various suppliers. These work well in slices, but in culture you need some marker-negative cells to compare the positive signal-strength with.
I agree with the previous posters on MAP2. I use Millipore MAB3418 with primary cultures and get great results (fluorescence 1:500).
