I have extracted oil from a shell and I assume that it is product A is dark brown in colour. I then distilled product A and obtained a colourless product B. I want to combine A and B so that I can find a drug which can be used for cancer. Is it possible? If no, please can you explain why?
For this you would have to follow the steps of synthesis and I think there is no other method of combining it in order to develop a drug.
if you want to go anticancer drug than first check the anticancer potential of your product A and B alone by following MTT or SRB assay on any available cancer cell line. If it produce any promising result than you can proceed further to find a drug for cancer treatment.
In my opinion, combining A and B is simply equivalent to A. as B was collected by distillation out of A.
you might perform anticancer assay alone because this will give you an idea whether the drug synergism involved or not.
In addition to Dear Mr. Mashwani I would recommend try a cheap assay like a bioassay of toxicity in Daphnia sp.
Why Daphnia? Additionally to the parameter of dead unit experimental Vs. Concentration of product you can measure a broad range of other parameters that can give you an idea of toxicity mechanism: cardiac rhythm, oogenesis, food deprivation, etc.
In any case, the use of synergistic compounds is more complex than individual products.
