The fish can sense the flow or object in the water, can the lateral line system help fish map the underwater enviroment? Is it possible the SLAM( simultaneous localization and mapping ) to be realized in underwater vehicle based on the mechanism of lateral line system?

The "view" in the sentence is mapping the world like other robots or human. Can the lateral line system be used to map the underwater environment? Maybe the fish can recognize the place it swims, I want to know if the fish can do that. Thank you.
The lateral line system senses the near-body flow as it passes over the sensory organs. A fish moving in a still flow field, or a still fish in a moving flow will use a combination of sensory cues, including pressure and velocity gradients to mediate some aspects of their swimming behavior.
Can a fish create and utilize a spatial mapping of it's surroundings based on these cues? This is perhaps the better question.
