In this published work, we developed an optimization model that links biomass transport logistics with biogas generation to support hybrid energy systems in rural Spain. The system integrates PV, wind, hydro, and a dispatchable biogas unit. Our model guarantees 100% coverage of biogas demand (UDR = 0) while minimizing cost and quantifying gas wastage (RGR). Key contributions include:

  • A dynamic biogas generation model with time decay
  • Discrete logistics scheduling using actual truck sizes and routes
  • Gurobi-based MINLP optimization for real rural infrastructure

So, what strategies do you use to reduce gas release or improve biogas utilization in hybrid systems? Would a multi-objective optimization (e.g., cost vs. emissions) be more informative in your case?
