I have recently developed a closed form mathematical model for depth of cut of water-jet in soft tissue as a function of tissue parameters (toughness, and constitutive response) as well as water-jet parameters (velocity and diameter). This model is particularly important for water-jet steerable needle technology that we are developing in our lab as well as water-jet - assisted surgery. However, to validate the model I need the fracture toughness (kJ/m^2) of the soft tissue simulant that I am using. Because of the lack of equipment we are unable to do such tests at our lab. Is there anyone who is willing to do the fracture toughness tests and give me the data so that his/ her name will also be on the papers that are going to be published?

Hello, Mahdieh! My lab is able to perform fracture toughness tests. The unit is kJ/m^2, so it should be impact strength tests, right? If you are interested, please provide more information about the material (approximate mechanical properties) in order to estimate whether our equipment is suitable for the material.

The material properties for 10%, 15%, and 20% SEBS are:
Young's modulus: 35, 81, and 132 KPa with poisson's ratio of 0.5.
So it is pretty soft. I also attached a paper that talks about methods for measuring the fracture toughness of soft materials. I guess they are standard tests. Please let me know if you have further questions.
