Securing Sustainable Futures Through Blue and Green Economies

Introduction

New digital tools have the potential to accelerate the transformation of economies and societies towards a more inclusive and resilient future. Research on blue economy and green economy can provide valuable knowledge and insights about how countries and companies can creative new business opportunities, jobs and economic growth.

In the case of the European Union, the European Green Deal aims to transform Europe in the first climate neutral continent. It focuses on a variety of areas of interest: climate, energy, environment and oceans, transport, industry, and R&I, among others. On the other hand, the EU Blue Economy Observatory focuses on seas, oceans and coasts, and studies the economic activities linked to them.

Due to these opportunities, it is important to get a better understanding of the opportunities of the blue economy, green economy, and digital transformation in Europe and beyond.

Objectives of the book

The book has two main goals:

· Discussion of innovative approaches and views exploring simultaneously how blue economy’s policies and strategies, green economy’s actions and priorities and digital transformation can successfully pave the road towards more inclusive and digital societies.

· Analysis of how the blue economy and the green economy can contribute towards more inclusive economies and societies, supporting the achievement of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The book will provide discussion on a wide variety of topics:

· In-depth analysis of national policies, strategies, and initiatives in the field of blue economy and digital economy.

· Discussion of new approaches, theories, and empirical evidence.

· Exploration of the role of digital technologies in the blue economy and green economy.

· Find out how the blue economy and the green economy can contribute to the achievement of SDGs.

· Wide geographical coverage, showing initiatives and experiences from different regions (Asia, Europe, Gulf Region, etc).

Target audience

The book aims to be an international platform to foster dialogue among academics, researchers, decision makers, policymakers, and practitioners, share new theories and frameworks, research findings, and case studies, to enhance the sharing of ideas and knowledge and promote scientific collaboration in the fields of blue economy, blue and green skills, digital business, education, green economy, and innovation. The book will present ideas and solutions to boost circular, more sustainable and climate neutral economies and societies.

Submission procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before July 25, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by July 30, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by September 15, 2024 and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Securing Sustainable Futures Through Blue and Green Economies. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.
