A patient was deemed to having had an uneventful surgical encounter for a shoulder repair. Yet, he as was his family and friends in shock when the patient returned home.
"You say the surgery and stay was uneventful? Yes! What about anesthesia?
And, that is the question at hand. As a Vanderbilt EE trained biomed and a critical care anesthesiologist, retired, I know exactly what happened. This exercise is intended to be enjoyable; but, your responses are most valued and important. The patient could not find a physician who could see what firemen, EMT's and ordinary people with a little knowledge of medicine could see and realize the causation of the markings on the patient's chest.
As attached is an image file that does not reveal the patient's identity. You fellows tell me what happened to a patient who was to undergo a preemptive interscalene block before shoulder repair. Two years later the patient had cataracts, 3 years later, signs of a failing basal ganglia. It took the patient 2.5 years to fully articulate that of cognitive-executive. He states he was trapped in his own mind. Share with me what you think happened?
