Hi, I need to know what textbooks are used to teach cognitive psychology in general and cognitive psychology of memory in particular, in English speaking countries (US, the Commonwealth, etc.).
I highly recommend Reed and Ellis' Fundamentals of Cognitive Psychology: ISBN 0072858958.
It's a bit dated (7th ed was pub'd in 2004, and I know of no 8th...), I've sifted through several more recently pub'd texts and found them lacking by comparison.
It's suitable for advanced undergrads, and give a good account of all the major topics of relevance to the study of memory and attention. The text also delves (although not deeply) into metacognition, which many do not even address at all.
Easy to find -- check it out and see what you think.
I've been using the following textbooks as the basis for my classes. I teach students who are on their 4th year of a 5 year master program in Psychology and they seem to get along well with these books. Then I just recommend specific articles on each subject we're studying.
