The long-term consequences of Covid-19 in cancer patients remain to be fully understood. Cancer patients are at increased risk of serious illness because their immune system is weakened by cancer and/or its treatments.

As per the paper, 60% of the cancer patients diagnosed with Covid-19 and followed up for a median duration of 7 months (up to 14 months) developed post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection(PASC). Females were more likely to report persistence of symptoms compared to males.

Treatment regimen alone weakens the immune system but Covid-19 exacerbates the the entire system all together.
