For plant analysis TLC is best method.

But to know complete profile of chemical flora, it should be designed accordingly.

I agree with Dr. Sethiya. Priliminarily you should go for qualitative chemical examination using various chemical tests for various varieties of phytoconstituents which may be present in the plant. Afterwards on the basis of constituents present, you can select the solvents for TLC and can proceed for isolation studies also.

After knowing few constituents, once u decide the solvent u can also use HPLC and proceed for isolation studies. etc.
