Hello,
I’m planning to start analyzing biogas composition using a gas chromatograph (GC) with a micro thermal conductivity detector (µTCD), and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who’ve worked with similar setups.
I’m trying to figure out what carrier gas would work best in this case. I know helium, hydrogen, and nitrogen are common options, but I’m not sure which one offers the best balance in terms of sensitivity (especially for µTCD), safety, cost, and compatibility with biogas components like CH₄, CO₂, H₂, N₂, and H₂S. Ideally, we’d like to avoid using hydrogen due to safety concerns.
