I am studying the behaviour of cylindrical shells under bending loads. I simulated in Abaqus a straight cylinder of length = 100 , radius = 2 and thickness =0.05 . S4R elements are used. The cylinder has one end fixed and the other is free. (Rigid body kinematic conditions are applied in a reference point in middle of cross section at both ends). A displacement load is applied at free end and a geometric non-linear analysis is followed.

The model under bending load is subjected to ovalization of its cross section. My question is how can I measure this ovalization and how can I find the moment distribution across the cylinder in order to find at which moment the collapse occurs?
