There are two blank 'Option 1' questions on the front page for seemingly no reason

When you say 'positive impacts' or 'positive effects' in survey questions; I am not sure what this refers to - positive as in safer, cheaper, cost-efficient, easier to work with... it could have many interpretations.

Please note: all my comments are made with good intentions and offered to be constructive and collaborative, not to be nit-picky or critical. Surveys are often used but less-often rigorously designed. Time spent in planning and revising before deployment will make the analysis and incorporation of the survey into you dissertation much easier. Here are some points I would suggest you examine.

· Title: the title should at least hint at the survey purpose

· Target audience: Who is the target audience and how will you screen / eliminate outlier responses?

· What is the purpose of the survey? [solicit opinions, determine familiarity? Some questions seem to elicit ‘opinion’ information on nebulous items such a positive or efficient development, others seems to be looking at the ‘popularity’ of composite matrix methods.]

· Survey design: what is the basis /methodology of the design? How were questions chosen? What is the rationale for the choice of a Likert scale and how are you handling the null option?

o The employment question needs an n/a option.

o Item stems should lead with the target of discrimination, not instructions like the stem phrase: “Do you agree”

*“Do you agree” is a “yes/no” trigger. Try to use standard neutral phrasing. like “To what extent.” (Questions 2-5 could be offset as a sub-set of itmes with one generic instruction)

o The last item: “Any recommendation” is too open ended. With text input items you must decide what kind of text and how much of it you want AND how you are going to parse and process that text into manageable data.

· What are the two opening options for? Are they to separate respondents with experience from respondents with no experience? [like myself]? Both lead to the same url.

· Delimiting of topic: “car seats” [Why only “seats” and not other fabric covered items? Why only exclusive “car” instead of inclusive “automobile” / “motor vehicle” / “vehicle” to encompass all manner of cars, trucks, etc.

· Delimiting: flax fiber composites? What about other bast fiber composites or other non-bast non-wood natural leaf, seed, straw, and grass composites?

· Optional note: you use British English spelling: fibre / fiber behaviour / behavior]]

· Unclear: “glass fibre is obtained from several fine fibres of glass.” [obtained or manufactured?] [made from molten silica (SiO2) glass ”sand” and a chemical binder]

· Usage:

o avoid unneeded capitalization: textile/Composite ; 1 Year; Flax composites; Glass-fiber composite; seat, Which ; final Dissertation; Bending of material and Damping

o use capitalization: Msc [caps: MSc / M.Sc.]; Textile Design, Technology and innovation [cap: Innovation]; De Montfort university leicester [cap and comma: University, Leicester: Textile Design, Technology and Innovation MSc, De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, UK

o plural / SV agreement: any question [questions]; For car seat[s]; for car seat developments [development]; natural materials contributes [contribute]; that Bending of material and Damping behaviour [behaviours]; will be use [used] in a thesis

o spelling / unclear: high-end car set [do you mean seat? What do you mean by "high-end"]

o unclear: that the combination [of?] natural materials

o check: manageability of materials from breaking easily [awkward]

o precision: Textile Design, Technology and Innovation module [delete: module and use program/ stream?] at De Montfort university leicester [cap: Leicester. [Textile Design, Technology and Innovation MSc, De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, UK]

Note: this question has no zero option and “employed” precludes researchers who have been employed in other fields or who may have may have explored this field in an unpaid situation.

· General:

o “flax composite” is a vague and generic term. Consider something more technically exact like: flax fiber (or thermoplastic) starch based composites / flax fiber-reinforced composites / natural fiber reinforced thermoset composites

o Flax is known variously in English as linseed or flax plant. Consider adding the taxonomic: (Linum usitatissimum L.)

· Tangential:

o Some respondents may be more familiar with resin-based terms like bast fiber thermosetting polymers / matrices

o Some respondents may be more familiar with natural fiber bast composite manufacturing techniques than with the materials (thermoplastic: compounding, mixing, extrusion, injection molding, and compression molding (CM) ( thermoset: liquid composite molding (LCM), resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum infusion (VI), injection compression molding (ICM), sheet molding, pultrusion, reaction injection molding, and bulk molding
