Items with a response set of " (1) Once a week, (2) Once a month, (3) once a year etc.", is that nominal or ordinal data? I will be using a composite score of multiple items, which will provide a High/Medium/low category if that makes any difference. I feel like I'm just confusing myself for no good reason. This is ordinal not nominal. If you split up further it is like 1 in 7, 1 in 30 and 1 in 365 days. You can view as frequency or as the scale while analysing with different variables.
If data can be arranged in a order (ascending vs descending) its ordinal.
And same data can be nominal as well as ordinal (depending on how you treat your data).
Colors (blue yellow green) are nominal but if you arrange them according to wavelength the data is ordinal.
