My answer is "It's unlimited once based on a wrong foundation." I am lucky to find solutions based on the Chinese medicine that had time tested and a well build trust-able foundation. In the medical field, especially I can see many western medical researchers through their life still can not find a real solution that can treat diseases without any harm as Chinese medicine does.

In my opinion, it depends on the area of research,  hypotheses and luck :-).

Usually, a good research plan and helpful mentors reduce the time duration for obtaining the final result. A perfect scientific research takes much more time.

Timing of a strong short survey:

1.  Depends on the number of questions asked:

1 question ... 1 minute-10 minutes for the respondent to answer

2.  Depends on the size of the study population

100 study participants may provide statistically significant results

3.  Depends on the time to prepare the question, time for survey to be completed by respondent, tine for questionnaire to be gathered, time for data to be entered in file, time for running statistical analyses, timing of interpretation of statistical results.

متيقن أنك على علم، أن مدة إنجاز بحث مثالي أمر نسبي تماما، تتحكم به شروط موضوعية وأخرى ذاتية. فللبحث العلمي الصرف ظروفه، وللبحث الانساني ظروف أخرى، وللبحوث التي تشتغل على المعارف البينية من مثل علم النفس الديني أو علم اللغة النفسي أو النص الديني أو الجغرافيا السياسية...ألخ، ومن جانب آخر الكيمياء الحيوية، والأحياء الفيزيائية....الخ، طبعا هذه معارف أكثر تعقيدا، وهي تحتاج الى وقت غير قليل.

على الجانب الآخر ثمة ما يتعلق بالباحث نفسه، ومدى امتلاكه ملكة البحث وقدرته على ادارة المعلومة وسياستها وتوظيفها وفهمها...الخ، كل ذلك يؤثر في المدة الزمنية المستغرقة لإنجاز البحث.

لكني شخصيا، وفي ضمن تجربتي الشخصية، أشعر ان المدة التي أقضيها في التأمل تشكل ثلثي مدة البحث.

حقيقة الامر ان البحث الهندسي قد يستغرق شهور وايام طويلة بسبب اعتمادها على الجانب العملي التطبيقي واكمال كافة التجارب المطلوبة فقد استغرق بحث سابق لي مايقرب السنة لان كل تجربة تحتاج الى شهر كامل

وهذا ليس ببعيد عن البحوث الانسانية كما تفضلتم اخي العزيز

in my perspective, the choice of study duration is dependent on the content expertise of the investigators, based on available evidence from the field and prior research.

    Dear Dr. Emad Kamil Hussein, did you mean by your question "Based on your experience, what is the shortest time duration for conducting a perfect scientific research?" the duration of a perfect scientific research from choosing the subject under the study till its publication in a high quality journal. If it is so I can divided the duration into:

1.       Time of thinking of a new idea which brings a benefit for the world

2.       Collection and reading  references about the subject

3.       Collection of data

4.       Writing the paper and statistical analysis of the data

5.       Sending the preliminary draft to one or more of your colleagues in your specialty

6.       Correction the considerable notes from your colleague/s  

7.       Selection of the journal which must be suitable with your work

8.       Sending the final draft after you take the notes from the reviewers of the journal

9.       The decision from the journals about the timing of the publication

According to these durations, I cannot give you a specific time for conducting a perfect scientific research.

I think depend on type of article and important of sibjects but how may researchers conducting relative subject

therefore multifactorial reasons plus experiance of the subject

The length of time to complete any research is based on the subject and the sample of the research

There is research that needs experiments  and these experiments may take longer than expected to get results

Therefore, the criterion in the time period for the completion of the research depends on the subject, sample, and specialists.

for example, economic research, accounting research, need short time to completion, while managerial research needs much time to finish it.

Often the preparation and set up can take a long time but the experiment itself can be quick if it goes smoothly

- type of the study; experimental or descriptive 

- number of authors

- active contribution and motivation

I believe it depends on many factors, such as, the nature of the study and the number of authors. A research in Medicine usually takes more time than in Humananities. 

It depends and varies based on subject matter.

For e.g. a biology topic related to sequencing we can finish it off soon, as sequencing has become cheaper and easier these days. As certain genomes are sequenced you need not even go for sequencing just isolate the DNA, design primers and compare to the published genome. Other topics why others the present topic that I handle needs minimum 3-3 and 1/2 years.
