Does anyone know the temperature tolerance of the bacterium Azospirillum brasilense? Specifically, would it survive pressure cooking for 90 minutes at 121 degrees C, 15psi? I've searched around a lot already, but haven't found a definitive answer.
The optimum growth temperature of Azospirillum brasilense is about 37 °C. Azospirillum brasilense is asporogenous and therefore unlikely to survive the pressure cooking procedure.

Temperature range for growth of some Azospirillum species: 20 to 37 °C (Azospirillum agricola, Azospirillum canadense, Azospirillum fermentarium, Azospirillum formosense), 25 to 37 °C (Azospirillum humicireducens), 14 to 43.5 °C (Azospirillum largomobile), 5 to 37 °C (Azospirillum melinis), 4 to 37 °C (Azospirillum oryzae, Azospirillum picis), 22 to 37 °C (Azospirillum rugosum), 25 to 40 °C (Azospirillum soli), 15 to 40 °C (Azospirillum thiophilum), 20 to 41 °C (Azospirillum zeae).
Martin Klvana, thank you. So far as I understand, Azospirillum brasilense is a thermophilic species, but you still suspect it wouldn't survive, and this because it does not produce protective spores? Thanks again :)
