I am using roll to roll atmospheric pressure plasma surface treatment system.
Could any one provide any document where I can read about the important parameters to control for better treatment result?
I am using nitrogen plasma gas inside the reactor on PET and PP films.
How can I find the efficient power input from the machine to the plasma and to the surface for treatment. (I dont much understand about active and reactive power and how to control it, not sure if I have to think in that direction)
Please help me out.

From practical views, the plasma treatment on the surface does generate heat which could cause a problem for PET or PP films. If the power is too high, it can melt your plastic films of PET or PP. To be effectively to let your plastic films become hydrophilic, you need to set a series of power for your plasma machine to treat a series of your samples. After that, use water dropplet on your treated films to see the outcomes of surface properties. Then decide which power is the optimised intensity. In our past experiences, we use a small plasma treatment machine on plastic films. The normal power for most hard coating substrates is around 80W to 100W, but not plastic substrates. The power for the plastic substrates is around 30W in our case. Due to the variations of plasma machines, you had better to test your own experimental parameters.

Treatment on polymer
Adhesion improvement of polymer surfaces is among the most important applications of atmospheric pressure plasma treatment. Atmospheric pressure plasma polymerization makes possible rapid, simple, and time-stable hydrophilic surface preparation, regardless of the type and properties of the material whose surface is to be modified. I think, surface of polymer such as polypropylene can be coated with a thin nano layer of plasma-polymer from a low-concentration mixture in nitrogen using atmospheric pressure plasma. A deposition time of only 1 second may necessary to achieve satisfactory hydrophilic properties(site given for you reference).
