I am wondering if using temperatures up to 65 C reduce graphene oxide at all. I currently fabricate graphene oxide membranes from a water dispersion (heat up to 40 C during sonication). I also dry the membranes under high vacuum at 65 C for about 30 minutes. My dispersions recently seem to get very bad (can visually see big paticles) that are stubborn to remove with sonication, which I think raises the possibility of partial GO reduction. Any help is appreciated.
@ Adam, I think it is 200 degree Celsius. Heating graphene oxide in air at 200 degree will reduce the material to some extent. Mostly adsorbed water/moisture and some labile oxygen functional groups are removed at this temperature. However, this low temperature heating will not result in high conductivity of rGO . Otherwise,

In the synthesis of graphene oxide, carboxyl groups are obtained on the periphery of the graphene plane. One of the chemical reactions of carboxylic acids is the reaction of decarboxylation or decomposition of the carboxyl group with the release of CO2 and the production of a hydrocarbon, or for graphene, hydrogen appears in place of the carboxyl group. Nanoparticles accelerate the reaction (size effect), sonication also promotes decomposition. Therefore, stirring is desirable with a stirrer and a decrease in temperature is beneficial.
Hi. GO starts to reduce even at 60 degree temp. So plz dry your GO at 55 degree celsius. Plz check my papers.
Adam da Due to what I wrote, graphene is formed, which contributes to the formation of lumps after 2 months.
Q. A. Cardoso et al.'s research work has shown that influence of temperature in a thermal reduction of graphene oxide. According to their results , in a thermal reduction, the temperature was 200°C.

I suggest, after synthesizing graphene oxide (GO), dry it in a normal hot air oven at a temp. below 50 degree celsius, after that bring the GO to fine powder form. If your GO is in fine powder form, you may not get lumps after sonication. Also, the membrane what you are preparing, let's dry it a low temp. However, high temp. drying may led to any physical/chemical change of your membrane.
