I have read research articles and theses of Social sciences where data collection is based on Likert scale of individual's choices (level of satisfaction OR mobile using of which brand). they code these choices with a numeric value in excel or SPSS to conduct descriptive analysis. their results are found with arithmetic mean and standard deviations. My question is that, is this even interpretable to use AM for such data, or social scientists are misled? Mode or median can be better choice in this case.
