Do you love to write or edit and love science? Well, I do. I have been able to combine the two passions of mine by choosing scientific editing as a career. It allows me to stay close to science with life-long scientific learning and communicate scientific discoveries in the best possible way. I have been an associate editor at CACTUS for almost a year, and in that time, I have come to appreciate that scientific editing is a very rewarding career option. If you are enthusiastic about scientific discoveries and have a desire to learn, scientific editing might be a good fit for you, as it has been for me.

I will like to add something important particularly for junior researchers. As it is said "If you want to be a good speaker, you should be a good listener" Same holds valid i.e. "If you want to be a good writer, you should be a good reader". Having said that, let me share how I learnt professional writing. It is as easy as it seems. Whenever we read (or review) a research paper, in addition to understanding its technical details, we must also learn from positive/negative aspects of the way how the paper under study has been written. So, later on, when we ourselves are writing, we should adopt the positive lessons learnt and refrain from shortcomings of the paper.
I serve as an editor for the Journal of Gang Research. Participation in this type of service work is essential to keep the knowledge base expanding in your discipline.
I am now the editor of Journal of Mountain Science. I have been in journal editing career for more than two decades. I love this career although it is a little tough. And I begin to love scientific writing too after becoming an editor!
I am not scientific related by profession, but I did my first degree in microbiology. Actually I had seed of love in science before that. I still do enjoy reading any scientific stories to widen my eyes.
I want to combine two things I love to
do anyway, learning about science and nature, and writing.
I have some passion in editing and statistical analysis of medical articles, although it take much time.
With the increase in the number of journals, and the possibilities of working with digital media, the time for submission, evaluation and publication of pepers has decreased. Increasingly, the professionalization of this activity needs to be recognized and valued. Knowing how a period works and the publishing activity even helps the author to improve his manuscripts and have a greater chance of publication.
