"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style" — maya angelou
My mission is to act as an instrument of positive change in my family, my work and my community. I will utilize all of the talents that God has given me and will participate in all aspects of my life with energy, purpose and gratitude. I will utilize my talents in strategy and administration to ensure that my home is loving and calm, my workplace is productive and positive and my community is responsive and growing. Through this focus I will give more than I take and will provide a positive role model for my children
“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw
My life's mission is to come upon my undiscovered talents that best bring about perfection in the material and spiritual worlds, as well as be a giving and loving man in my important relationships and those that may extend beyond my immediate circle.

Notably, different people set different missions for themselves, which are important personal assignments acting as guiding principles in life. Duties, on the other hand, are moral or legal obligations to which individuals feel deeply committed and responsible. Therefore, we can say that the two concepts are interrelated. In point of fact, to achieve specific missions , one has to adopt a broad range of duties and responsibilities whose main function is to take the initiative and begin to materialize the targeted mission. Focusing on one's duties increases the probability that one will behave in ethically acceptable ways because the actualization of any specific mission requires duties which stimulate the individual's commitment for successful accomplishment of that mission.
I often wonder: Why brilliant scientists, composers, artists are never called successful and popular in their fields. The word "successful" applies to many professions, for example, it is often said "He or She is a successful journalist, leader, boss, and so on". For example, they often say "he or she is a popular journalist," but they never say "he or she is a popular scientist". Is it possible to say that Lernardo da Vinci is a popular or successful artist? This would be an insult to the memory of Lernardo da Vinci. In my opinion, real scientists, composers, artists are people who have a mission to humanity, because their works are immortal. Ludwig van Beethoven created his brilliant Ninth Symphony while being completely deaf. If you ask "why?" then my answer would be - this is the real mission, because this composition helps many people to survive in the period of depressions.
I believe that the professional work that we do daily and deserve a monthly wage is classified within the axis of duties assigned to it, while the research or humanitarian work is classified within the axis of the delivery of a scientific and humanitarian message to serve the people.
I have been a researcher for over 35 years. The work of the Researcher is the most beautiful and fun in the world and often gives great satisfaction. For duty and often "obtorto collo" I must also necessarily deal with the bureaucratic / administrative practices related to the research work. I believe that a researcher should be exempted from the bureaucratic / administrative part connected to the research or at least should be supported by experts dedicated exclusively to all the above bureaucratic / administrative burdens.
Some people cannot stop of fulfilling the duty in the work or in the life. Maybe because of the consequences that result of not fulfilling an obligation. In any case, when we like our work we usually work beyond of our obligations.
Doing the Right Thing at Right Time to achieve Highest Standards of Quality and Again doing the same thing again. For me All Clinical or Administrative job responsibilities fulfilling by Qualuty Management. Regards
I fully agree with Stephen on the opportunity to find a healthy balance between the degrees of duty and joy. But, I studied physics and luckily I do not understand anything about administrative bureaucracy.
I work at a technical university. But my work at a technical university and my teaching is not only a duty, but also: raising the professional awareness of future engineers, raising scientific anxiety and inquisitiveness of future researchers, ethics, and self-education needs.
My work is my hobby, it is rather a mission than an obligation. When I see appreciation and respect for my methods of work, I have satisfaction and further motivation.
Teaching is my passion and after many hard-works, I have been able to make my passion my profession. Being an Assistant Professor in an Animal Science University (my alma mater too), I really get immense professional satisfaction. From the very first day, I involved myself in good teaching, research and extension activities. I think a teacher is always remembered for his teaching inside the students even after his/her death. The teacher is mortal but his/her lessons are everlasting to the students. So, I just try to become an "ideal" teacher and everyday, bit by bit, I prepare myself in that way. I don't only consider this as my duty, this is the goal of my life, the mission of my lifetime. I feel that I am born to be a teacher and I shall be able to do justice to my profession. I want to die as a "great" teacher.
I would like to finish by a quote of the great monk Swami Vivekananda:
"Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached."
Duty involves some work....and..."work is worship". Normally doing "duty" is uttered in narrow sense. But in my opinion an honest duty when focussed to a target, becomes a "mission." A noble mission without any assigned duty is useless.
So....I love to do my duty and it is with a mission.
I believe duty is worship & as such it also becomes a part of mission along with our activities for the family responsibility we have also for our life develop certain virtues & also for the growth of our inner development with the divinity within us & in this case such action becomes also a mission in an indirect manner .
I try to derive joy out of everything I do! This includes teaching, research, service, managing a major conference and providing help to the needy. However, the most joy comes from having a loving family, setting new goals and dreaming about a better future.
My main driver for a long time has been based on the Parable of the Talents Matthew 25:14–30. We are blessed with certain talents, abilities and opportunites, once we understand what they are. Our mission should be to use them constructively not for our own glory or gratification (though there is nothing wrong in feeling good about what you do, when you are doing what is right). But rather for the benefit of our fellow man.
Thus; my mission is, to serve my company with: integrity, professional enthusiasm, drive and a desire to be an encourager. Then to share my learning, experience and process development through lecturing and writing.
My career is the same as when I was studying for a bachelor's degree, so I realize that I wanted to achieve it through my profession and that made me work more than one duty during my career.
I think if you have a mission and target in life to achieve besides duties, Then I would do my best to ensure that these missions and targets would be accomplished along with my duties.
As a teacher: I think that teaching is a very busy mission that requires enough responsibility, especially the higher education level, which requires enough work and development to improve the academic level of the students!
As a researcher I would like to talk about issues that affect the health of the living being maily, human, plant, animal, ......Immense mission

In a working/professional area , a job is a source of income for survival . A mission is a personal agenda to achieve a high standard of personal satisfaction by high quality work by setting personal goals . It is the ability to convert a duty into a mission that every individual should aim to achieve the greatest personal satisfaction & this is the secret of success .
Work is a duty but when man love and enjoy his work can do more than his duty. And depends on the team and environment around. the person who has mission and goals is more organized to improve his personal skill and outcomes, and it will help him to take a leadership poision in his carrie.
Actually, I want to preserve environment to be healthy for life systems. Ethics is essential to make proper use of S&T.
Ethics of people should be to understand their responsibility and accountability towards preserving the nature and develop equality (at least equal opportunity) in the society.
