I strongly believe that an excellent teacher can also become an outstanding researcher and vice versa.

There is no rule, and we cannot generalize. Not everyone will be competent in both areas. I have seen great teachers but cannot at all translate their expertise into academic papers, in the meantime, I am aware of top researchers in medical education and education in general, but they are not great teachers. Those who have proved themselves in both areas are usually multitalented, with several backgrounds and a wide range of expertise.

I didn't know I will enjoy teaching until I started. Until then I was a researcher, but still do that part-time.

I am a clinical doctor, professor of medicine and clinical and educational researcher

I enjoy each of these facets of my profession, and it seems to me that this enjoyment managed to transmit it in my teaching by forming new researchers and medical professionals; besides that I have been satisfied with the creativity and original discoveries made as a researcher.

On the other hand, my day-to-day clinical practice allows me to approach patients' health problems satisfactorily, which, based on empathy, adequate patient medical relation and proper application of my medical knowledge, frequently solves or improves health problems of the sick.

Disfruto cada una de estas facetas de mi profesión, y me parece que este disfrute logro transmitirlo en mi docencia formando nuevos investigadores y profesionales de la medicina; además de que he quedado satisfecho con la creatividad y los descubrimientos originales realizados como investigador.

Por otro lado, mi práctica clínica cotidiana, me permite un acercamiento satisfactorio a los problemas de salud de mis pacientes, con lo cual, partiendo de la empatía, adecuada relación médico paciente y atinada aplicación de mis conocimientos médicos, frecuentemente logro solucionar o mejorar los problemas de salud de los enfermos.

I enjoy teaching and research doesn't interfere with teaching . You can have both hand in hand . Teaching is scheduled work which we can adjust and do research continuously.

Teaching and research goes hand in hand, however I have seen many good teachers at my school as well as university level who were not good in research; and the other case also i.e. many professors with excellent research profile were not able to teach good. The reason for the latter, I believe is that as teaching involves getting down to the students' level to explain the concepts to them, many renowned scientists and researchers find it difficult (they try to explain the concepts to students from their level).

We cannot judge ourselves. The research community & your publication will say successful researcher or not. The students or your academic achievements (Supervising PhD, Senior project etc) will decide, you are a successful teacher or not.

there is no rule. you can be a good teacher and researcher. for me I was born to be a teacher so I enjoy it more. yet, I am working hard to be successful researcher as well

My opinion is that i am good both research and teaching. But they are different topics. May be you can be a good researcher but no good in teaching vice versa. In teaching teacher or source person should be open person and communication is easy. The students can easily ask any question to teacher. In the research u should be alwas instited and feelings are ok and also hardworking.

I think I am successful in both as I have many publications in the international journals and I am teaching since 10 yrs in a University , member of the academic council, proctorial body and the key-person of the moderation board Fashion Design department of the University.

I think am I am the better teacher (according to excellent students records) then researcher, since I have published many papers in Journals and on International conferences but my papers are not in those Journals wich have high IF and Quartile

I try to be good in both as a teacher and as a researcher, but till now I think i am not good in both.in my point of view not good means there are many things to improve both as a teacher and as a researcher..The day anyone starts thinking he is good..then very less chance of improvement..

My profession is a university teacher at the same time my work in teaching lead me to discover many problems needed to be solute through conducting field experiments to reveal the solutions to overcome these problems. So that i think that good teacher means that you can be a good researcher ,but not the alternative choice.

Sometimes, there are good teachers who are not good researchers and vice versa. Unfortunately, there is a lot of administrative work to do, which leads to reduce the creativity in research and teaching.

I would like to be a good teacher and a researcher at the same time. But I often see in our universities that a good researcher does not necessarily have to be a good teacher because he does not have the ability to deliver the scientific materials to the students , but he has scientific research published worldwide.

A successful teacher (14 prizes in 18 years of teaching) and a beginner in research, even though I have done research for more than 10 years.

I´ve learned statistics recently, and it gave me strongness to feel better in my research field.

It is the duty of a teacher to teach research to his students . As a teacher , I have enjoyed teaching both undergraduate & post graduate students & also guiding postgraduate students to do their research thesis . The postgraduates learn the methodology of research from the teacher & he should be able to inspire them to do research in their future career . The fact remains that promotions for the teacher also depends on his research publications , in addition to his seniority . A teaching Institute's reputation also depends on its research capabilities & article publications .

Both, i feel academic and research are complementary to each other. I believe that, Teaching without research is Injustice. A good academician has a certain depth of knowledge which helps in identifying acute research problem which then adds to the original theory. This addition into theory then be disseminated to the students. with the progression of economy the new research problem creeps in which can easily be defined by a researcher. the outcome of research and entire experience of research need to be shared with students for their enrichment's. By doing this few students may arouse interest in research and become researcher and then academician. in few nation research is necessarily attached to academics.

i can't say or evaluate myself, but according to other, they say that I m good researcher and good teacher.

Ideally, the two are inalienable. Based on my measurable outputs I am a good teacher as well as a good researcher.

Be a successful researcher and be a successful teacher

Teaching is my passion and after many hard-works, I have been able to make my passion my profession. Being an Assistant Professor in an Animal Science University (my alma mater too), I really get immense professional satisfaction. From the very first day, I involved myself in good teaching, research and extension activities. I think a teacher is always remembered for his teaching inside the students even after his/her death. The teacher is mortal but his/her lessons are everlasting to the students. So, I just try to become an "ideal" teacher and everyday, bit by bit, I prepare myself in that way. I don't only consider this as my duty, this is the goal of my life, the mission of my lifetime. I feel that I am born to be a teacher and I shall be able to do justice to my profession. I want to die as a "great" teacher.

I would like to finish by a quote of the great monk Swami Vivekananda:

"Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached."
