Currently, in the age of technological revolution and new online media, including social media portals, which are one of the main sources of information and is the dominant communication medium for many young people through these new media, many people create a business, policy, creator of the largest technology corporations, artists from various fields, so-called idols of musics, film, etc.
However, did not the notion of authority lose its meaning in this way?
Of course, in the world of science, this issue may look much different. In the world of science, most researchers and scientists usually indicate as the authorities of their exceptional mentors, promoters of scientific papers, eminent professors specializing in a specific field of science.
But how does it look outside the world of science?
Is there a crisis of authorities for the average citizen of modern communities in the age of technological revolution and new online media?

In our part of the world, there is no such crisis of authorities, because we embrace technological advancement with utmost speed and eagerness, but still traditional hierarchial structure of doing things is prevalent like 50%-60%; and in your part of the world, may be it is more perceptible, but there is no need to be worried, as some form of authority will always exist, to make things happen in an organized way.

Dariusz Prokopowicz I agree with you that the evolution of digitization has decentralized the communication channels. Previously it was very difficult to get the data but now its difficult to find the correct/less manipulated information.
The horizon of this correct information/data flow crises is not limited to business, arts and academics; even in religion people feel that information is being manipulated in favor of certain groups. Any person, can write and publish anything on social media and blogs. I interviewed more than 100 people on every sensitive area where information manipulation should not happen ( As it was about translation of Muslims religious book from Arabic to English). Still, most of the people were afraid that online translation can be biased. The only fear was the online books can be unreliable/biased or manipulated because it is not being provided by some authority.

Technology has created many opportunities. Its benefits are endless but privacy and accuracy of information is the key issue. I think block chain technology will help us to tackle this in future. I strongly feel every government should have one sensor ship board for media/online communication to make sure people are getting the right information.
At the moment of writing I am not concerned about a crisis of authorities in the media sphere. New media are welcome due to the fact that they give many unpublished journalists a chance to spread their views, but such availability has its price in the form of credibility. To be credible on an online media outlet, you need to have built up a certain reputation. Most traditional media almost always come with a certain reputation or credibility attached to them due to the usually higher production costs. Something new media often do not even come close to. Once they do however, the same rules apply to them as for any media, in the sense that they need to build a newsworthy reputation. I believe consumers are not naive and they will often double check on information. The more consistency a news outlet shows in the validity of its information, the more it will be rewarded by the crowd with a certain reputation and hence, authority. You will notice some news outlets receive more traffic than others via this route. Crowd intelligence singles out the most meaningful and rich media, and so reputation becomes the new authority of a seemingly chaotic media age we find ourselves in. Any form of crisis in this sense seems to me to be just a temporary slip in media production and/or consumption.
