The disaster is that science and health become a source of business. Anyhow, I hope that what Prof. Neda Ali mohammadi- Enriquez becomes a tangible solution.
After the end of Barter system in the past centuries and with the start of the usages of currency in trading, People life and their health became a mechanism of revenue generation. So, today during this COVID-19 pandemic, Vaccination is going to be a new business with the only goal to make profit not the social wellness. Nidhal Kamel Taha El-Omari
No doubt it's going to be a big business for pharmaceutical sector. And those who have invested their time and resources, will try to make some profit out of it and it's quite fair. This vaccine might be needed to every people and individuals are going to spend a decent chunk of their income for this. The only thing that world need to focus is, this business should be ethical and only a reasonable profit should be marked over the cost of vaccine.
Having worked within pharmaceutical research and development, making the vaccine is a money producer to increase their overall profits. Yet, the overall public health of the world rests on their success. However, its the political barriers that enable these organizations to succeed. Especially since there exists other drugs which will decrease SARS-2 (COVID-19) within 24 hours. In-short, the political agendas increase pharmaceutical profit potentials.
in my opinion, yes pharmaceutical companies now very interested to earn but:
The AstraZeneca vaccine is a case in point. The company has promised not to make a profit from the vaccine during the pandemic and is going to sell it at US$3 to US$4 per dose, a price that is one-fifth to one-tenth the cost of the other leading vaccine contenders from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. The company is also making deals with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and has a licensing agreement with Serum Institute of India to supply low- and middle-income countries. Like every business: after it works, it looks easy. You must have the expertise in vaccines, expect a disease like covid-19 to come, and win a race against another 100 manufacturers. None of these steps is easy or depends entirely on your skills.
For sure, but a vaccine for such a global disease is monopolized by certain countries and by large monopolistic companies, and no one competes with them
During the pandemic - many developing countries and their population remained in a difficult situation. Of course, vaccines are bought first of all by rich countries. Or they themselves will work out. This is definitely a big business. But this period is temporary. Therefore, all countries should help each other. We will definitely overcome the disease. There are many types of business. But the main purpose of the vaccine is not to be money. He must serve people. This is definitely my personal opinion.
Leading pharmaceutical companies producing vaccines, medications, drugs, dietary supplements etc. are usually large corporations. This is due to the fact that large companies have greater financial opportunities to conduct research in their own research laboratories. The key issue is therefore the concentration of capital, modern technologies, knowledge and experience from years of research.
Pharmaceutical companies are among the technology companies in which modern technologies are the key production factors and provide an advantage in competitive markets. For technology companies, a specific feature is the concentration of knowledge capital, research experience in their own research and development centers and laboratories, financial capital necessary to conduct high-budget research works, etc. Therefore, leading, nationally, internationally or globally operating pharmaceutical companies producing various drugs, vaccines and other medications are usually large and commercial companies.
Many countries and pharmaceutical companies have made the vaccines such UK, china, USA etc but question is which one is best one and with very little or no side effects
Of course, in the current period, the economy has developed. Many countries have their own vaccine. But one thing is important. All good things must serve a person, not a business. This is my personal opinion.
The leading pharmaceutical companies that manufacture well-known drugs, medications and vaccines are usually large corporations with their own research laboratories and spend a significant part of their financial surplus on creating new, innovative drugs. In addition, pharmaceutical concerns are also commercially operating business entities operating on competitive domestic and international markets.
Although big pharma is creating the SARS-2 COVID-19 immunization, they take tax breaks for their uncompensated time, and overall costs. They are not doing it for free, and they do claim costs to offset their taxes.
