Do you mean preferentially insert in to the gel phase over the liquid crystalline phase over simple insertion into the gel phase?
Many proteins will insert into both, preferential insertion into the liquid crystalline phase is more common than the reverse.
Any protein with a GPI anchor will preferentially partition to ordered lipid phases, although this is not the same thing as insertion.

Thanks for your answer. The reason I ask the question is I try to use gel-phased lipid bilayer to avoid the insertion of protein into the bilayer. From what you said, proteins may still insert into bilayer but maybe slower than they do with bilayer in fluidic phace. I think you are right. Thanks again.
For exemple plasma membrane ATP-dependant proton pump does locate (highly) preferentially in ordered phase. In the old days of the early '90 we actually use to purify it from TX100 resistant domains. Other plasma membrane proteins do behave the same.
