I have a question concerning your project. After the activation using those two activating agents, were there any significant difference in the textural properties of the activated carbons?
Also, having an heterogeneous microporous surface, how feasible is it to carry out a multilayer adsorption? With what i have read so far in some articles, multilayer adsorption seems to be carried out on an homogeneous microporous surface.
25 years ago activated carbons were derived from two sources, bitumen or coconut shell, made by heat sintering techniques. Coconut shell resulted in smaller blind cave pores which worked well for trapping the smaller freons.
The paper of Tomkow in Fuel 1977 is very useful in this regard.

About multilayer adsorption, it does not occur because of the essence itself of a micropore: where the force fields of each wall overlap. The space is so restricted that you can have just 1-2 layers of molecules (not as in unrestricted multilayer adsorption in a nanospace). However, multilayer occurs in mesopores.
