Are there measurements of mean path length for vegetation patterns?

Ehud Meron in Physics Today November 2019 issue writes about Vegetation Pattern Formation (p. 31). For figure 5 at page 36, what is the mean path length in steps for gap patterns (second from left) and for spot patterns (second from right)? Possibility: the mean path length is (4/3)e, where e is the natural logarithm. Has anyone measured mean path lengths for these two cases?
