So people start to develop different devices with various mechanism, working principle and specification and all capable of generating heat. Some of these devices look similar in the way they operate and the function they carried out but have different names. Are there clear differences among oven, microwave and furnace as all are used in heating purpose? Thanks ahead for your clarification on this.
Microwave heating is ideal for removing water from porous material. As soon as the water content drops, the energy absorption also decreases. Depending on the material, the electromagnetic waves can penetrate a few centimeters into the material and heat it there. Other heating methods only heat the surface.
For metallic surfaces, the penetration depth of the electromagnetic waves is less than one millimeter.
