Could you explain the problem you are trying to model.

As pointed out by Arpit Srivastava , you should also mention the solver you are discussing about - implicit or explicit.

I have attached a file which explains various methods for simplifying your model to achieve an efficient solution in Abaqus.

FYI:

There are global-local modelling techniques in Abaqus such as (1) submodelling method (2) shell-to-solid coupling method, which allow you to model the area of investigation you are looking at with more detailed fidelity (mesh and damage models).

Yes of course, you should decrease the numbers of meshes in your proposed case study. In addition, in order to decrease the time of analysis in Abaqus, you can use mass scaling technique.
