I'm working on territory competitiveness. A paper entitled "A model of analysis for the evaluation of tourist destination appeal: the Amalfi Coast - a case study" is forthcoming on "Enlightening Tourism. A Pathmaking Journal". Below you can see the abstract.
Abstract
Core resources and attractors have long been at the centre of studies on the competitiveness of tourist destinations. However, such studies treat factors of appeal in a cumulative way without or at least, rarely integrating the perspectives of both supply and demand. Our paper intends to verify whether the scale of importance of the attractors detains an absolute value or whether such value varies on the basis of type of destination. The study proposes a model of analysis of destination appeal which takes into account the perception both hotel management and potential tourists have of such attractors
I am working on territorial management and on sustainable tourism. The latter is an application field for studiing the crossing of economic activities with caretaking of stakes about public or common goods
An example of possible collaboration : I am partner of some french Regional nature parks. They run progress-approaches in sustainable tourism (as proposed by Europarcs). These approaches can be analysed in terms of CSR.
I am doing a research trip to Cuba end of October and will be looking at their tourist industry as they have done quite well in term sof sustainable tourism and there are lessons other countires can learn from their approach e.g. see Wilkinson, S. (2008) ‘Cuba’s Tourism ‘boom’: A Curse or a Blessing?’, Third WorldQuarterly 29(5): 979–93.
If you think this would be a useful addition, please call or email to discuss.
Helena and I do work on gastro-tourism (see papers on my RG), which involves the authenticity of gastro regarding rural economic development. We would both be interested.
I have recently written a book chapter about participatory city branding. It was a case study on leveraging Instagram for the purpose of city branding practices. So it would be a good chance to extend my focus with sustainable tourism. If you interested in Turkish market I would collaborate on a cross national study. Best, Ebru.
