For example, In Turkey it is too difficult to get permission from Authorities. Students and teachers in schools do not like long-term studies.

Very interesting topic.. I worked for the same place here in KSA for 12 years and it broke my heart to leave, but then, I discovered that I should've left earlier. I would like to discuss it further since I have the same interest. How about I do the same research here in KSA and we compare the results.. wouldn't it be interersting?

I have been teaching in that same school for 14 years.  I have been an educator for 28 years' leaving my previous school when I felt that I had lost motivation and  I didn't understand any more why I was teaching the materials that I was supposed to teach.  I think that I was the odd one out who gave up permanent tenure and financial security because I began to dislike my work.  In Israel it is quite difficult to dismiss teachers so it is very common for staff to stay almost all their teaching careers in one school (I'm not so sure that this is good for them or for their students!)  I was teaching Theatre in what was considered a good high school with high matriculation percentages teaching the most irrelevant materials for youth of that age.  

Being one of  the inital staff who created the school I now work at' I had total freedom to write my own programmes.  I think that longitivity is a function of comfort in having financial security especially wiyh the caotic economic changes that even occur in stable economies. The fear of not having a job, especially and absurdly even  from the age of 40-45, is a major influence.  Another influence is job satisfaction. Reading materials on early teacher burn-out. job satisfaction was a central aspect of their decision to stop teaching. Another aspect is renewing and changing roles in the school such as working with different age groups, developing new work methods, and propotion.

I am still exited every morning what the new work day will bring. (I work in a democratic school where I have much pedagogical and content freedom' using PBL methods which demand new and relevant content, every year. 

Benny Stein, thank you for the insight!  Freedom of teaching has a great influence on longevity it appears.  I would agree with you about teachers staying out of comfort not being good for either the student or the teacher.  Once again, thank you!

I have no specific data about teacher’s longevity but I think the nationality, the belonging to a country are determining. Working and living in a democratic country, proper remuneration, social appreciation and good facilities at work are factors increasing the longevity. Certainly, the opposite factors decrease it. Some years ago I read a statistics on the stress level of various professionals. Teachers received the second or third worst classification meaning teaching is very stressing.

Thank you for your input.  I believe you have given me a few more items to add to my list for longevity.  I was reading an article that in the US we have a "greening" (younger) of teachers and higher leave rates.  You keyed in on nationality, I believe that to be true.

I experience this experience into practice in a network of public schools here in Brazil, Federal District, where teachers get sick very often for lack of greater psychosocial support, or perhaps an aspect of the study of ergonomics of teaching. In 2015 I am planning to undertake a survey to study the causes of illness among teachers.

I´m teaching for more than 35 years, 72 years old  and still alive. Look for a new model. ;-)

I have been teaching since 1972 when I received my MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public  Health.  I am still teaching and have been teaching at the same university for 22 years.  I stay because I am now a tenured professor which will be good when I retire.

I had 30 years as a primary school teacher / school deputy in one system before moving to Higher Education. I am interested in the reason behind your research. What is it that you are trying to determine? Is there some desirable quality in a teacher if they stay in the profession as long as they do? I am only asking because I know of many teachers who only stayed in the profession for a short time but had a very positive impact, and, unfortunately know some teachers who have been in the profession a long time and stopped making a positive contribution. Sounds like an interesting project though. Kevin.

I'd like to see if there is a dichotomy of  facilitative vs debilitative teacher longevity  or any research has been carried out on this . What makes it a productive rather than counterproductive process ? 

Ability and health and interesting discipline and acceptance by students and pupils and....

It´s a very complex and sophisticated field.

Evelyn are you interested in life span of teachers who stay in the profession? That would be an interesting question. You could look at other variables such as marital status and diet.
