When transplanting tropical seedlings, it's very common for the taproot to get damaged. I was wondering if there is any information on the effect of the taproot on the resistance of seedlings, and whether the plant would be able to regrow a replacement root that goes deep in the soil. Thanks
Hi Ben Aymen , It is new arena of research. I have screened rice genotypes against drought tolerance, but I did investigate in this issue (Pls see the attachment) . So, you can do research on the effect of taproot on drought resistance
Bean and other legumes have a well developed tap root system. The soybean plant can mitigate drought by developing tap and fibrous roots as vital tools for scavenging more nutrients and water from the deeper layers of soil.

The depth of the rooting system in soybean is largely influenced by the elongation of the taproot. Under water-limited conditions, some lateral roots are produced and the number of these roots continually increases under extended periods of drought stress.
