Even after reading meta-analyses (e.g. Norris et al 2002, 60,000 Disaster Victims Speak...) I can't seem to find anything that addresses this topic. One would think that exposure to repeated aftershocks would be associated with severity of PTSD symptoms. I am looking for this particularly for the Nepal earthquake, but am interested in any studies on earthquakes in China, Iran, Haiti, etc. -- again specifically anything that addresses victims exposure to aftershocks not just the initial earthquake. Current studies about Earthquakes in these areas are infrequently realized, because the accessibility and the social issues post-disaster complicate the research; however, works Lindell and collaborators, particularly the Protective Action Decision Model makes an attempt explain the relationship between psychological response and the risk perception on the environmental hazard (Floods, earthquakes, hurricanes).
Current research about response post-disaster focuses on the resilience.

The TRE community has a team in Nepal, but they aren't doing research, they're training people how to release stress and trauma.
One thing to keep in mind in your study relative to Nepal, which you might have considered, is the Buddhist influence on nervous system capacity and regulation. There are studies that show the effect of long term meditation on the amygdala and hippocampus. Both are important in the stress response system and processing of the event in terms of memory.
Interesting question to investigate. What prompted it?

There has been some work done by Kathleen Attfield and colleagues, in the California Health Department on work they did to look at mental health impacts among residents in Northern California following the 2014 earthquake in the Napa area. The article entitled, "Injuries and Traumatic Psychological Exposures Associated with the South Napa Earthquake — California, 2014," was recently published in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR).
