The available morphological character for distinguishing adults of species B is the lengths of apical white band and subapical dark band of female palpi. However, there are reports of variations among members of species B with respect to this character.
My RG files have many species complexes determined in the days before DNA was available. Anopheles gambiae complex cuticular hydrocarbons were analyzed successfully by me and Mike Service, Many other species complexes were investigated in mosquitoes , honey bees, tsetse flies, beetles, grasshoppers, other diptera....
